Andrew Nowlin

Information Technology & Cybersecurity Engineer

Oklahoma City, OK, United States

Andrew is an experienced Information Technology Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineer, and Manager/Director. Having spent the last 10 years working in and studying information technology and security, he has seen first hand how organizations have grown to be more and more reliant on technology – and why security is more important than ever.

Having successfully completed projects ranging from deploying brand new production VMWare infrastructure, to replacing firewalls and re-engineering LAN and WAN infrastructure, Andrew has an wide range of experience.  From a managerial standpoint, Andrew has transformed an IT department from a barely organized group of technicians sharing a single mailbox for support issues, into a structured group of support technicians and developers equipped to quickly resolve issues and drive digital transformation.

While in his role as Director of Information Technology Andrew implemented a security program from scratch, evaluating and deploying  SIEM and vulnerability management platforms, developing policies and procedures, and more. He is currently using that experience to build and reinforce the security program in is current role as a Systems Engineer.

The events of 2020 have significantly changed the workforce, and with some experts speculating it could be 2-3 more years until the world is able to safely return to the normal we knew before the COVID-19 pandemic, business and technology organizations must change with it. As large segments of the workforce have moved to short-term or long-term remote work arrangements, organizations must re-think their policies and strengthen their security posture.

With the shift to remote work, most organizations saw their attack surface massively increase overnight – bringing forward a whole new set of security risks and infrastructure challenges. Andrew has successfully faced these challenges head on in his current role, ranging from securing existing VPNs, to deploying new VPN technology and ensuring the network infrastructure and links were able to handle the increased demand.
